World Golf Village Facts

  • World Golf Village opened on May 19, 1998.
  • 6,300 Acres; 2,700 acres – 40% – dedicated preservation land.
  • In 2002 won the ENVY award – given to developers who made a significant contribution towards building in harmony with Florida’s sensitive environment.
  • 7,200 homes planned; 3,400 homes currently completed.
  • Over 20 miles of 8’ pathways and 5’ interconnected sidewalks to jog, power walk, stroll or bicycle.
  • Slammer & Squire golf course was designed by Bobby Weed with player consultants Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen.
  • King & Bear Golf course is the world’s only collaborative course designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
  • Community also has PGA TOUR spa, 2,500 sq. ft. fitness cottage, 9 acres of neighborhood parks, lighted tennis courts and large clubhouse.

Commercial Area Information

  • The proposed Lion’s Gate Mall is across the street from World Golf Village. The mall will be approximately 800,000 square feet of major anchors, shops, services and restaurants by Weingarten Realty. This mall is scheduled to be under construction by late 2008.
  • The announced U.S. Veteran’s Hospital on SR 16 should be under construction in late 2008.
  • The proposed Esplanade at St. Johns Mall by Ben Carter Properties, with Simon Properties, is a 1,500,000-square-foot lifestyle anchored mall patterned after their St. Johns Town Center. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2008.
  • At the intersection of SR 16/Pacetti Road/International Golf Parkway:
    • A CVS Pharmacy opened March 2008.
    • A Walgreens Pharmacy, across the street from the CVS, is under construction.
    • The 54,000-square-foot Publix commenced construction in April 2008.
    • Vystar Financial has announced they will begin construction in the near future.
    • Fire Station #16 is in operation.
