Golf

Within World Golf Village, you'll find two world-class championship golf courses. World Golf Village's first golf course, the Slammer & Squire, was designed by Bobby Weed and named after player consultants the late Sam Snead (The Slammer) and the late Gene Sarazen (The Squire). This dynamic, 18-hole resort course has played host to Liberty Mutual's Legends of Golf Tournament, one of the most unique events on the Senior PGA TOUR. The par-72 course features five tees per hole to accommodate a variety of playing levels.

Two of the greatest golfers of all time, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, have worked together to create the second course at World Golf Village, aptly called the King & Bear. This historic course, which opened in November 2000, marks the only time that these golf legends have collaborated on golf course architecture. Framed by rolling hills and towering oaks, the course design maintains the integrity of the landscape while providing a unique challenge at each hole of play. Working together, Palmer and Nicklaus refined their design to accommodate trees and span waterways. They created a secluded environment on each hole by placing fairways and greens among soft, rolling terrain.

Both courses boast their own clubhouse. Each clubhouse features a gourmet dining room, a bar with outdoor patio dining, a pro shop and locker room lounges.

In addition to its courses, World Golf Village offers other unique golfing experiences. You can try your skills against the 132-yard island green challenge hole, which was modeled after the famed 17th hole of the Stadium Course at the Tournament Players Championship at Sawgrass. Or you can hone your talent on the 18-hole real grass putting course with its greens designed to USGA specifications. The course is so authentic that the greens are mowed and the flagsticks and tee markers are moved each day. Residents can also get tips on their game through a variety of programs at the Village's onsite PGA TOUR Golf Academy - the PGA TOUR's first-ever golfing school.
