World Golf Hall of Fame to Offer Free Admission for Military with Opening of
“Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory” Exhibit

St. Augustine, Fla. (October 20, 2008) – The World Golf Hall of Fame will extend free admission to members of the military beginning Saturday, Nov. 8 in conjunction with the opening of its newest featured exhibit, “Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory.” The offer will run through Dec. 31, 2008.

Active and retired military and National Guard members with proper photo ID can receive free admission to the museum as well as a complimentary round on its 18-hole, outdoor putting course. Immediate adult family members can enjoy regular museum admission price for military ($17.50) which includes entry to the museum, a round on the putting course and one film at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX® Theater. Throughout the offer, the current military rate at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will apply.

“We found this to be a meaningful and appropriate opportunity for us to say thank you to men and women of our armed forces,” said Jack Peter, Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the World Golf Hall of Fame. “With our upcoming exhibit honoring Bob Hope – such a strong supporter of our U.S troops – we felt it a fitting tribute to his legacy and to those who serve our country. We hope to welcome many members of the military to our museum in the coming months.”

“Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory” will be the Hall of Fame’s signature member exhibition from November 2008 throughout 2009. The exhibit will offer the largest collection of Hope memorabilia ever on public display in a single exhibition alongside chronicles of the World Golf Hall of Fame member’s life and career as an entertainer and passionate golfer.

As part of the exhibit, guests will experience the strong connection, devotion and impact Hope had on the United States military. The exhibit will display the 1997 Congressional Resolution naming Hope an Honorary Veteran, the first in American history, in addition to a variety of stories, photos and items – including military shirts Hope wore on tour, gifts from servicemen, and golf clubs he carried during his USO shows, as well as a sampling of letters from Presidents, veterans, and celebrities. “Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory” will invite visitors to journey back across the decades of Hope’s life, giving attention to the time he spent traveling around the globe to honor and entertain U.S. troops and visit veterans in hospitals.
